Because of the portability and the thin media of floppy disks, they are more susceptible to physical damage, magnetic media failure and contamination failure than the platters on a hard disk.
Typical removable media error messages are:
You may get error messages trying to read a floppy, such as; “cannot read sector”, “Invalid media”, “cannot find file”, “invalid disk”, etc. These are all indicative of a corrupt floppy disk, and in most cases we can recover at least some, if not all, of the original data.
Tip: Check to see if these errors persist after trying to read the faulty floppy disk in a different floppy drive.
